Project Overview

Bringing the soul of the English countryside into an urban setting is one of the most rewarding challenges in garden design. This project centred on recreating an authentic cottage planting scheme within a suburban plot, stripping away the constraints of the surroundings to create a space that feels entirely removed from them. Layered herbaceous borders were planted with a carefully curated palette of perennials, grasses, and flowering shrubs, chosen to provide continuous seasonal interest while evoking the informal, abundant character of a traditional cottage garden. Reclaimed materials and softened edges throughout the design reinforce the sense of age and rootedness, ensuring the garden feels established rather than newly planted. The result is a garden that contradicts its urban context entirely. A quiet, romantic retreat built on considered planting and a deep understanding of how the English country garden should feel.
